The MSc in Psychology has a strong emphasis on psychological investigation and exploring ethical issues. The primary goal of psychology as a discipline is to contribute to the scientific understanding of mind, brain, behaviour, and experience and of the complex interactions between these. The programme will develop knowledge and understanding of scientific endeavour and the role of empirical evidence in the development of theory relating to human behaviour. It will provide an opportunity to develop skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods and an opportunity to conduct research independently. Applications of psychology will be core to all modules as well as a focus on how psychology can be applied to problems in different regions and cultures of the world. Students will develop breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding in key areas including: health, forensic, work, and positive psychology. They will gain transferable skills including analysis of quantitative and qualitative data analysis and Master’s level research skills.

An improvement in population health is increasingly recognized internationally as a key element of economic and social development and nowhere is this more evident than in emerging countries with growing economies. This course provides a broad-based understanding of health and its social and environmental determinants with a curriculum informed by key international strategies, the Sustainable Development Goals and the Social Determinants of Health. The focus of this programme is to facilitate the development of public health practitioners; to enhance their knowledge and skills required for public health practice in their local setting. In addition, to develop a public health mindset and approach which is relevant to their role and country. LMIC’s are increasingly challenged with a double burden of disease; whilst still fighting infectious diseases they are now increasingly faced with the growth in non- communicable diseases (NCD’s). Tackling these burdens require a robust evidence base built on sound research, surveillance and intelligence; policy and strategic approaches based on the evidence; health protection measures and health promotion activities at the community level. This programme will introduce these core areas of public health and enable you to apply them to your setting.

Law is taught from a range of perspectives, based on the finest traditions of legal education and recent innovations for the 21st century. Our approach is to examine law well beyond basic legal rules and legal institutions, taking account of wider contexts and discourses that allow deeper understanding of law in society. With this approach, the University of Suffolk provides students with a firm grounding in the subject of law and the contexts in which law functions. Equally important is the breadth and depth of education that this subject facilitates. The following press release from The Nation newspaper from October 2018 summarizes a major problem faced by the government of Malawi in its quest for development of the oil and gas sector. It is clear that a lack of trained manpower in the sector is crippling efforts to kick-start the industry.
Despite government promising to support the growth of the mining sector to become one of the main foreign exchange earners, the department tasked to look after the oil and gas sector seems to have no capacity and resources to perform, according to a recent report…
The report says technical officers at the Department of Mines do not have continuous trainings to ensure independent and competent analysis when conducting field verification visits where oil and gas companies are operating…
The report has recommended a review of the oil and gas division to allow all technical officers to access relevant training and capacity building programmes (Chirambo, 2018).

The aim of the B.Ed. in Primary Education is to train new teachers to a high standard so that they may in turn teach their pupils to a high standard and positively contribute to their school and communities. The aim is further to train new teachers in such large numbers that they make a significant impact on meeting the targets of access and quality of Primary Education outlined in MIP-1 (National Planning Commission, 2021b) and NESIP (Government of Malawi, 2020).

The importance of education in Health and Management has always considered an important element due to the crucial provision of health care services from different organizations as well as the notable risks that are related to health care provision to a different number of people. The rationale of the programme is to enable students to gain skills in planning, organizing and monitoring healthcare organizations rather than technical skills. This programme also relies on the rational that management is related to a systematic approach of organizations in related industries therefore it is important that students understand how healthcare systems and organizations can function efficiently. Additionally, the programme is designed based on the rationale that the health care industry requires highly skilful managers while dealing with their crucial health care provision towards management of finances, organizing employees and resources in healthcare facilities, and daily general operations of hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other related organizations. The program has an interdisciplinary basis, focusing on Management and Health Economics (hospital administration, human resources, total quality management, financing and planning of health services, economic evaluation), but also negotiation and basic subjects in the fields of Public Health of Epidemiology, Sociology of Health and Sanitary Engineering, designed to educate students on the wider field.

The Bachelor in Business, Accounting and Financial Management course allows students to develop skills and financial knowledge that are fundamental while evaluating business current financial position, reconciling financial business reports, analysing and communicating financial statements, as well as budgeting and control environmental issues. Throughout the course there is an emphasis on the basic principles of business, accounting and financial management in association with their procedures and concepts.

The degree program focuses on business management and finance as an area of study. Given the industrial situation in Uganda there is need to train people who can revamp the existing businesses or open new ventures in order to revive the economy.
